My Personal Journey
My journey began with shock, confusion, and a feeling of being stuck. I had invested two years of my life across the globe, learning a language and culture. I assumed my homecoming back to the familiarity of the culture I had always known would be seamless.
Rather than an easy re-integration, I went through reverse culture shock that left me feeling alone. I knew life was different, but I wasn’t sure how to get back to being “okay” again. I felt trapped, trying to inhabit skin that didn’t fit anymore. For three years I lived with this inner turmoil and then I discovered LifePlan.
LifePlan provided perspective on where I was and how I got there. It helped me to make meaning from the transitions and turns my life had taken and pointed me toward a hopeful future. Navigating the LifePlan process I was able to put names to my talents and describe my heart, finding that both my heart and talents intersected in my passion for leadership.
LifePlan helped me find my way back to myself and a vision for who I am becoming. I went on to get certified as a LifePlan facilitator and began walking alongside other leaders in transition.
Simultaneously, I was taking my learnings about leadership and codifying them into a system to help entrepreneurs build managers and leaders in their companies. I got my masters degree in Organizational Leadership and began to put my system and formal learnings into practice building leaders in an enterprise level software company and amongst small businesses across different industries.
From the painful process of navigating a challenging transition, I became passionate about inviting other leaders into a shared journey of guided self-discovery.
This passion was poured into building leadership collectives where smart, caring people show up with whatever is going on in their leadership and lives as they lean in to help one another grow, guided by shared mindset and a shared toolset.
Whether it is walking with individual leaders with LifePlan, engaging leaders in organizational leadership or management training programs, leadership peer groups, or mentoring programs, I have found one commonality: Slowing down to work “on” our leadership rather than “in” our function and inviting others to join us on an intentional, shared journey is transformative.
I live my life in pursuit of three things: Jesus, learning new things, and ice cream. This pursuit takes me on adventures all over the world full of wonderful people. I collect questions and am working to master the art of the well-timed question. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, baking, and spending time with my family and friends. I am the proud aunt of three nephews and one niece who are constant reminders why I live intentionally today to leave a legacy.
